SEO stands for Search engine optimization. Sometimes, people who are not Internet savvy wonder when they search on search engines and find plenty of results of it on Google. They get what they want. If they have a business or website, they don’t know how to list their website on search engine results so their prospects can find them easily.
SEO comes into play here. The websites that appear in top 20 results for given term are highly optimized. When anyone searches for a given term, search engines list those websites in top results.
In Google or Yahoo or other search engines, the result you get while searching for something is divided into two parts: left part and right part. Right part is mainly paid results. Websites pay for every click. This is called PPC or Pay per click marketing.
The results on the left side are organic results. To get listed in organic results, you need a highly optimized and useful website. When I say useful, I mean that there must be useful content on the site. Let me give you an example. If you are searching for the term dry cleaning, and if you don’t get results related to dry cleaning, instead you get results from porn websites, then will you use that search engines again? The simple answer is NO, Never again. Or in another scenario, people look for top 10 results while searching for anything. So if you don’t get what you need on 1st page then will you bother to go to the 2nd page, or will you jump to another search engine? I would say 90% of people would prefer to go to another search engine rather then going to the 2nd page.
Now, a simple question will be coming to your mind is how to get listed on 1st page, so you can catch those 90% of people who never go beyond the 1st page while searching for something. This process of getting in the top 10 results is called SEO, and it is explained bellow in great detail:
SEO is not a process of cheating search engine spiders. SEO is organic process of building link popularity of your website, and providing very good quality content to your visitors. If your visitors don’t come back to your website just because you don’t have anything to offer for what they looking for, then SEO is worthless. You will not be getting anything out of SEO.
Let me come back to the topic of how to do SEO? SEO is divided into two parts.
1. On-page optimization

The topics I will be covering in this On-page and off-page report will be following:
1. On-page Optimization:

Write your page titles
Parts of title page (What can be included in title) Article title Authors name Running head Page header Page number Specific vs. general Keep your titles short Make titles descriptive titles Avoid using same titles for all pages Use main keyword in front Don’t use useless keywords in title Don’t stuff keywords in title Try to use separators instead of keyword stuffing Benefits Page titles influence search engine rankings Page titles are stored in browser history lists Most people link to web pages using the page title for anchor text
Write your meta description
Use meta description tag Meta keywords tags Comments tag Meta refresh tags Other meta tags
Name your pages files
Don’t use underscores Avoid redundancy Lowercase
Alt tag Optimization
Be short and simple Use useful tags Don’t write alt tags only for Spiders Use alt tag in every image Use relevant keyword for alt tag to describe your image Avoid using unrelated keyword in alt tag Add key phrase for important images Use 2-3 keywords rather then repetitive keywords in alt tag
Taking care of keyword density
Keyword density is very important aspect of on-page optimization. If you don’t have enough density or have over density of keyword, then again there is chances of getting into trouble is very high. In other word to get higher ranking in search engines you need very good density balanced. Make a very good list of your keywords and spread those keywords evenly over the page so it doesn’t look artificial. Also try to mix the keywords with useful information. If you only try to stuff keywords to create fake density then again problem. Try to cover only two to five keywords per page so you can balance the density of keywords.
