Every company has a marketing department and these people keep looking for exploring new markets for their product and services. Easy to say and very difficult to do, this is what I believe. That is the reason why corporate organizations spent so much on this very department.
Internet has opened doors for exploring International markets sitting right in your seats. Search Engines is the place where everyone wants their web pages seen for exploring the Potential Internet Market. Do you really thing it is about the search engine picking your web pages (indexing web pages)! Moving a step further, getting your web pages in top 3 pages, or moving still further getting your web pages placed on the first result page of the search engine, or the final step getting your web pages placed in top 3 search result on search engines is what would drive in business?
The surfers have become smarter, now they do not just click on the results without reading. I believe in whichever plane of internet exploration you are into, the most important thing is what does a surfer sees in the search result page of a search engine.
The title of the page something that is seen on the top frame of the browser above the “File, Edit, View..” section. When making web pages, this line appears in a meta tag called “Title”
This is called the title meta tag. The words you enter in this title meta tag also plays a very important role in your search engine ranking. However, a surfer first views this line before clicking on the link and entering the web site.
So I believe what ever efforts a search engine optimizer puts into optimizing the web pages for top positions in the search engines unless this very line appeals the surfer, you are not going to get traffic and all efforts, rankings, positions are a waste when there is no traffic.
Lets us first understand how much part of the title search engine result page displays. Google displays the first 75 characters of the title; MSN also displays the first 75 characters of the title and Yahoo displays about 95 characters in the title.
This mean ever character utilized in the page title is important, ever space between two words consume one character. Let us take some examples:
1. ABC International.com, the best brand for Search Engine Optimization
2. Search Engine Optimization, Difficulties Made Easy: ABC International
3. Search Engine Optimization-SEO-Search Engine Marketing-SEO Outsource
Here are 3 examples, the first Introduces his company and announces himself to be the best along with the product. The second introduces his company tag line in the title “Difficulties Made Easy” along with the product and company name. Now the last one just introduces different forms in which a surfer might relate to the product. So you decide what would be the ideal title you would read and click when you find this three in the top 3 search result while looking for “Search Engine Optimization” in Google search engine. I would definitely go for the third one and believe most of serious buyers would click on the third one.
The point is make optimum use of the title tag and put serious thought not just for ranking well however for higher number of visitors from search engine.
Write a 95 character title and see the best is within the first 70 characters since as I have mentioned earlier Yahoo displays 95 characters and Google, MSN displays only up to 70 characters of the title. If your title is of more than 95 characters, then try to make the first 70 characters sensible also the first 95 characters sensible.
Remember search engine result page is your advertisement board and whatever they read needs to make sense and fulfill their requirements.
